Public visits to Raj Bhavan from today
PANJIM: Close to 40 requests to visit the sprawling Raj Bhavan were received by the authorities as the official residence of the Governor of Goa opens for public visits from Saturday. Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), which has been entrusted with the task to take selected visitors to the 450-century old palace, has said it is a good response as no wide publicity was undertaken.
Goa Governor Mridula Sinha launched the Raj Bhavan Tour on Friday stating it will be accessible to all, Indian as well as foreign nationals, ‘to see its rich history and heritage, flora and fauna of the place, subject to police verification of the visitors’.
The visits will be in two slots comprising of each batch of 50 visitors starting from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm.
The online booking at bookings.rajbhavan.goa.gov.in had begun from December 30, 2018. As per the procedures, a visitor will have to register on the portal at least three days before the date of visit and entry will be subject to police verification.
Confirmation of the booking will be intimated on SMS/email to the applicant. The entry fee has been fixed at Rs 300 per person to be paid online at the time of booking, however, children below 12 will be given free entry. The Governor also inaugurated the Visitor Information Centre at Raj Bhavan.
