The 80 prints of Los Caprichos were etched during the years 1797–98 by the Spanish artist Francisco de Goya (1746–1828). Not only did they make up Goya’s first and largest series of images, but they were his most satiric and socially critical. This catalogue of an exhibition at the Yale University Art Gallery presents Arthur Ross’s collection of the Caprichos series in its entirety. An essay providing an introduction to Goya and the series is followed by a full checklist of all 80 prints.
