Balestrino
Autor, Brate
The small town of Balestrino is one of the major attractions of the Liguria region. Mostly because it was abandoned in 1953 . The reason was a series of earthquakes that led to the destruction of the local buildings. Derelict by the inhabitants, ruined by nature and the passage of time, the buildings of the former Balestrino rise on a hill offering an amazing visual experience.
The views from there, combined with the possibility of exploring in the urbex style, are an attraction in itself. Within the town, which was founded in the 12th century, you can find a castle towering over the area, as well as churches . st. Andrew and St. George. All these buildings are perfect examples of medieval architecture. Below is the newer Balestrino with several hundred inhabitants.
