Nic and I, preparing to brave the climb to the top of the Nohoch Mul pyramid in the archeological site of Cobá, in the Mayan Riviera of Mexico.
The 120 steps up the pyramid lead to a small temple dedicated to the Descending God, or Bee God, which is perched at the top, and offers some cool views of the surrounding jungle.
I love how you colour-coordinated your outfits!

Cobá looks exciting, definitely must check it out. Can you recommend any ‘must dos’ in Playa?

I loved Cobá, it was my first time there. I love that you can still climb the pyramid, where as Chichen-Itza’s pyramid is closed for climbing now! Chichen-Itza is definitely worth the visit, a must do for sure, and Tulum is beautiful.
Playa is absolutely awesome. Definitely check out the restaurants and bars on 5th Avenue. Food at ‘Sur’ is delicious (a little more pricy, but worth every cent), and ‘La Azotea’ is a great lounge for cocktails.
There are also heaps of cenotes (water holes) in the area, most charging about USD$3 to go swim. I had never gone to cenotes on my previous trips, and it was a highlight of this trip. I visited 4 different ones, and they are each so unique (some underground, some in the open).
And of course, the beaches. I liked going to the Mamitas Beach Club in Playa Mamitas. You can pay USD$20 (plus a minimum food/drink tab) to get a very nice and comfortable bed – it seems overpriced, but if you want to feel like royalty, it’s a nice treat! Of course there is nothing like laying right on the sand with a towel, so you could always do that, and Mamitas is still the best beach for that 😉
I liked alternating my days so I got to do everything while keeping every day interesting: 1 day beach, 1 day archeological site, and cenotes here and there, visiting the restaurants at night for great meals and drinks.
Hope you have fun. I’m sure you will!
