Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Canvas / Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Canvas

Damier Ebene Canvas vs Damier Azur Canvas

A new Louis Vuitton bag? Yes please! But which type do you choose? Monogram Canvas, Damier Ebene Canvas, Damier Azur Canvas, Epi Leather, Taiga Leather, Suhali Leather, Taurillon Leather, or Monogram Vernis? There are many choices to make when looking for a new Louis Vuitton treasure. Secretly one of our favorites is the Damier Canvas. You will never go wrong with this classic and iconic type of canvas. In today's blog we give you a little more information about this beautiful canvas. You will probably fall in love (or even more) with this canvas after reading this blog, whoops (excuse us)!

How it all started

Louis Vuitton was born into a hardworking family. He traveled to Paris at the age of thirteen. He covered 470 kilometers (293 miles) on foot, taking jobs along the way to keep himself alive. When he finally arrived in Paris he was 16 years old. He soon had the opportunity to become an apprentice at Monsieur Maréchal's successful boxing and packaging workshop, where he ended up working for 17 years. This is where the whole story of Louis Vuitton started. Do you want to read more about how the brand was created? Then read our blog about the history of fashion house Louis Vuitton.

The Louis Vuitton Damier canvas is available in different colors. Today we give you all the information about the Damier Ebene Canvas and the Damier Azur Canvas.

The Damier Canvas was first introduced in 1889. The canvas was designed by Louis Vuitton and his son Georges Vuitton. George invented the canvas a year earlier in 1888. Fun fact: the Damier Canvas is older than the Monogram Canvas! Wow, I didn't see that coming. Almost a century later, in 1998, the pattern was reintroduced as the Damier Ebene. This is the pattern as we know it today. Brown, stylish and very iconic.

The Louis Vuitton Damier Azur is the beautiful "sister" of the Damier Ebene. This pattern has a completely different look. Both very beautiful, but the color difference gives the bag a completely different look. Louis Vuitton Damier Azur was first introduced in 2006. The Damier Azur has a blue base and a white checkerboard overlay. In the squares you will find the Louis Vuitton logo in small. Because of this, many people find the Damier Ebene and the Damier Azur bags more subtle than the Monogram bags.

The pattern

This should probably come as no surprise, but the Damier's pattern is derived from a chessboard. Damier literally means checkerboard in French. The Damier Ebene has a black canvas base. Over this base they print a checkerboard pattern with brown. This also applies to the Damier Azur (the base of a Damier Azur has a blue base and a white checkerboard overlay).

Damier canvas at the moment

Actually, it doesn't matter which bag you choose, almost every bag with the Damier Canvas is beautiful (don't you think?). We have listed our favorite models from Louis Vuitton (with the Damier Canvas). This bag is one of the most iconic Louis Vuitton bags every made, I am of course talking about the Neverfull. The name of the bag comes as no surprise. Everything you put in your bag fits, the bag is really never full. Lip gloss, hairbrush, phone, wallet, nail polish .. you're good to go! The Louis Vuitton Neverfull is available in three different sizes. Read more about the Louis Vuitton Neverfull in our blog

A size smaller? No problem, the Louis Vuitton Speedy would be perfect. The handbag closes with a zipper at the top and features the well-known "Toron" leather handles. Not only the bags have this canvas, but also many purses have it! Our Favorite Louis Vuitton Damier Wallet? Absolutely, the Louis Vuitton Accordion Wallet. On the inside you will find two compartments, seven card compartments and a zipper pocket for coins. On the right side of the wallet you will find a small D-hook, where you can attach a strap.
