Kim Raver will reprise her role as Dr. Teddy Altman for an arc during season 14, EW has confirmed. Deadline first reported the news. The former head of cardio and mentor to Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) left then Seattle Grace Mercy West to take a job at a military hospital in Germany at the end of season 8. The character made a resurgence — though did not appear on screen — at the end of season 13 when Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) presumed dead sister was found alive and treated at Altman’s hospital; Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) spoke to her on the phone. Danny Feld/ABC Surely Altman is returning in service of this storyline, but it’ll be curious to see how she’ll react to hearing that Owen has once again gotten married — and separated! — since she previously had feelings for him. Grey’s Anatomy will return in the fall.
