PANAJI: Rajendra Arlaker, Governor of Himachal Pradesh and former Speaker of the Goa Assembly, said that PS Sreedharan Pillai as Governor of Goa has done a historic mission by transforming Raj Bhavan into a popular place, which was earlier inaccessible to common people. He made the Raj Bhavan the Lok Bhavan.
He was speaking at a reception hosted at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan for the Padma Shri winners of Goa Tapobhumi Ashram head, Brahmesananda Swamy and former Indian football captain and goalkeeper Brahmanandan.
The Himachal Governor said that Sreedharan Pillai has brideged the gap between the Raj Bhavan in Dona Pola and the public. He made the Raj Bhavan accessible to the common man. He worked for Goa from a fatherly position and today the Goan people consider him as a guardian. The HP governor said that Pillai's basic characteristic was to maintain close contact with the people.
The Padma Shri winners were felicitated by Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai and gifts presented by Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Arlaker. The welcome speech was by Raj Bhavan Secretary Mihir Vardhan IAS and Messi de Souza said vote of thanks.
