A private project resulting from the agreement between the State of Cape Verde and the private company Mindelgolf & Resort, aims to transform the Cape Verdean island of São Vicente into the “Riviera Mindelo”, through an investment of 1.200 milhões de euros.
The transformation", in the space of 12 anos, provides for the construction of a marina for 300 pleasure ships and an international golf course.
Considered a relevant project for the promotion and acceleration of the development of the national economy in the tourism sector, the first phase of the project – which covers an area of 3,5 million square meters on the island of São Vicente, next to the city of Mindelo – will have a duration of three years and involves the infrastructure and construction of basic equipment and the subdivision, including circulation areas and water infrastructure., energy, sanitation and communications.
The second phase involves the construction of sports infrastructure, an indoor marina to receive 300 pleasure ships, a modern health center complementary to the Doutor Baptista de Sousa Regional Hospital, having the duration of 30 meses, after the completion of the first phase.
the third phase, to unfold in six years, involves building a central tower of 30 andares, to host an international business center, including trade, finance and shipping, a set of landmark hotels, an area of luxury villas, an area of gated communities, a commercial and recreational area, entre outras.
In sporting terms, a golf course will be built. 18 buracos, a cricket field – to maintain the tradition of that sport on the island – and four tennis courts.
