She may not have won season four of “So You Think You Can Dance,” but Kherington Payne might just end up being the most famous alum the show has ever seen.

Less than two months after being eliminated from the competition she has scored a role in the upcoming remake of ’80s classic, “Fame.” I caught up with Kherington during “SYTYCD’s” 40-city nationwide tour to find out how she made the big screen leap.

Pop Wrap: Is acting something you’ve always planned on doing?

Kherington Payne: I have, yes. I’ve always wanted to do something with dancing and acting. I’m just really excited to work with the cast and crew — and learn from them!

PW: Who do you play in the movie?

Kherington: I play Alice and she’s a contemporary dancer trying to make it in the world like me. I can identify with that.

PW: Are you a fan of the original?

Kherington: Definitely! This movie has had such a huge impact on the dance community. What dancer wouldn’t be a fan?!?

PW: What do your season four comrades think, and has being on the show prepared you for this type of massive undertaking?

Kherington: It helped me so much because it got me comfortable being in front of the camera and they are all really excited for me, so happy that I’m doing this. I’m really excited!
