When it comes to Academy Awards looks, Carey Mulligan’s is the cream of the crop.
The “Promising Young Woman” actress, 35, showed off her abs on the Oscars 2021 red carpet in a gold bandeau top and voluminous skirt, both by Valentino Haute Couture.
The gilded, sequin-covered look may be one of the most daring choices seen at Sunday’s awards show, but it’s also part of the night’s biggest trend.
Leslie Odom Jr. and Andra Day both dressed in head-to-toe gold looks as well, perhaps as a nod to the Oscar statue itself.
Mulligan is nominated for Best Actress for her role in the Emerald Fennell-directed “Promising Young Woman,” while the film is also up for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing.
While Mulligan has scored wins at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Palm Springs International Film Festival, National Board of Review Awards and more for the #MeToo revenge film, she has steep competition tonight: Viola Davis, Frances McDormand, Vanessa Kirby and fellow gold-clad star Andra Day.
