Former Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow Now Part of Eparchy of St. Maron

The church is now referred to as The St. John Paul II Maronite Catholic Community at Immaculate Conception.

The former Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow is now part of the Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn following the North Broadway institution’s recent sale by the Archdiocese of New York.

Catholic New York reports that the church is now officially known as “The St. John Paul II Maronite Catholic Community at Immaculate Conception.”

Those parishioners were first skeptical of the move, their concerns have been smoothed over, according to Father Dany Abi Akar.

“They were afraid like, OK, are we going to be kicked out? Are we going to become other kind of Catholics?” Father Abi Akar told Catholic New York. “Later on they saw that I’m still here and we’re doing the same thing, which is Mass and sacraments. People are very comfortable now. I told them this is always going to be your church.”
