Colonia del Sacramento (Portuguese: Colónia do Sacramento) is a city in southwestern Uruguay, by the Río de la Plata, facing the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. It is the oldest town in the country and capital of the Colonia Department. Around 27,000 people lived there.

Its historic quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.[1]
