Cabo de Rama facelift tender to be opened on May 6
The work includes restoration of the fort wall by minimal intervention among other repairs
Canacona: The long-awaited restoration and beautification of the Cabo de Rama fort at Khola in South Goa is expected to commence soon.
The tender for the works, to be carried out at cost of Rs 21.4 crore, has been floated by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and will be opened on May 6.
Incidently, the action taken report on the 2020- 2021 budget speech by chief minister Pramod Sawant had mentioned that the “work on the Cabo de Rama fort will be completed shortly”.

The government has already appointed M/s Darashaw and Company Pvt Ltd as architects and project management consultants for this project, who have been entrusted with the work of planning, designing, construction and development of the fort.
The project comprises restoration of the fort wall by minimal intervention, restoration of all the bastions, cleaning of shrubs from the fort walls, replacement of missing stones, rock stabilisation, etc. Other works include restoration of entrance and existing blocks in the fort complex, setting up a ticketing centre, new intervention on slabs for services, cement/lime plastering, laying of laterite pavers near the chapel, etc. The landscaping and hardscaping at the fort includes strengthening the existing pathways, creation of new pathways with laterite stones and retaining forest area and green space.
The tender seeks provision of basic amenities like toilet blocks, cafeteria, museum, benches and sitout areas, signage and information boards, safety features with glass and railings, and electrification of the fort complex.
