CLAIM
A photo of several children standing behind metallic bars is being circulated across social media platforms with the claim that it shows Israel locking up Palestinian kids in prison.

The image is being posted with a caption that reads, “Palestinian kids placed in cages by cruel, belligerent Israel”.

TRUTH
This image is from a series of photos taken in a Palestinian soup kitchen in the West Bank city of Hebron, Palestine.
The original photo shows many Palestinian children waiting for food at a soup kitchen. This is not a cage or a prison, and there were no Israelis involved.
VERIFICATION AND METHODOLOGY
Using reverse-image search via different search engines, we traced the
original image published on the official website of the European Pressphoto Agency Images.
Posted on August 18, 2010, the original photograph is credited to EPA/ABED AL HASHLAMOUN.

Titled ‘Food donations for Ramadan in Hebron’, the description given to the image reads “Palestinian children wait to receive food, donated by the Islamic endowment authority Islamic waqf, at a soup kitchen in the West Bank city of Hebron, 18 August 2010. Muslims around the world abstain from eating, drinking and sexual relations from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.”
It is clear that the photo circulated with false claims above is a cropped version of this image.
Using relevant keywords, we found that news agency Reuters also published a series of photos taken at such soup kitchens organized during Ramadan in Palestine.

More results from the reverse-image search led us to a tweet from verified handle ‘StopAntisemitism’, a non-partisan American based organization fighting antisemitism. For the unversed, Antisemitism is hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against Jews. A person who holds such positions is called an antisemite.

The tweet carried a screengrab of a news post from the Los Angeles Times, which showed the original photograph in which Palestinian children wait to receive donated food.
VERDICT
Times Fact Check has found that a cropped image of Palestinian kids playing in a soup kitchen is being circulated with false claims that Israel imprisoned those kids behind bars.
