The Se Cathedral, situated in the state of Goa, India, stands as one of the largest churches in Asia. Built by the Portuguese during the 16th century, this grand edifice is a stellar example of Portuguese-Manueline architectural style. It was constructed to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese under Afonso de Albuquerque over a Muslim army, leading to the capture of the city of Goa in 1510. The day of the victory happened to be the feast of Saint Catherine, hence the cathedral was dedicated to her. The magnificent Se Cathedral has been an enduring symbol of the Portuguese colonization and its resulting cultural exchange. It's famed for its Golden Bell, which is one of the largest in the world, and for the elaborate altars inside. The cathedral's white facade, towering structures, and baroque features make it a prominent landmark of Goa's religious and cultural landscape.

Expansive
The Se Cathedral is connected with two other monuments, so it does take time to fully explore the site in details. The Se Cathedral itself is reasonably pretty. No photography is allowed inside.
