Longtime “Biggest Loser” trainer Bob Harper has been named the new host of NBC’s weight-loss competition program.

Harper is set to replace Alison Sweeney, who announced her departure in August. Harper has served as a trainer on the reality show since it started in 2004.

“I’m super excited about taking the position of host on ‘The Biggest Loser,’” Harper said in a statement. “I’ve been with the show since Season 1, so I know all of the ins and outs. Let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ballgame with me at the steering wheel.”

Harper will take over the new role when the show’s 17th season starts shooting this month. He will also continue to offer training advice. Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom will also return, training eight contestant teams of two in the team-versus-team competition.

NBC also said that additional creative plans for the upcoming season, including new twists in the format, will be announced at a later date.
