History of Moti Daman Fort, Daman: The construction of Moti Daman Fort began in A.D. 1559 and was completed in A.D. 1581 during Daman's Portuguese rule. Exploring the fort provides a glimpse into Daman's history, offering a walk through its various areas. The expansive walls cover 30,000 square meters and house significant structures like the Administrator’s Secretariat, Government House, Cathedral of Bom Jesus, Dominican Monastery, Bocage House (the poet's house), the old lighthouse, convent school, government quarters, public health center, district library, three gardens, district court, and Daman Municipal Council. Most areas of the fort are open to the public, with access to the old lighthouse and other sections facilitated by stairs along the fort walls, allowing visitors to stroll around the ten bastions.
