• Cardi B's daughter Kulture recently turned 5 years old, and an Instagram post from Mom reveals a noteworthy gift for the birthday girl
  • In one image, Kulture is spotted with a bubblegum-pink Hermès Birkin bag
  • The bag in question frequently retails for $20,000 or more

You know, covering newsworthy gift stories means we encounter a lot of cases of celebrity kids getting ridiculously expensive gifts they're way too young to have: Jessica Simpson gave her 11-year-old a $3,000 bag, some parents in Malaysia gave their 5-year-old an SUV to get her to go to school, and there's that British baby who's a millionaire at 2 days old—and of course, everything Kardashian.

You would think we would have snapped by now or grown desensitized to it. The truth is neither: the world being as it is, it is only outrage we can still muster. We hurt ourselves by reporting stories on wealthy kids wielding presents we can never afford simply, to paraphrase Nine Inch Nails, to see if we still feel. It's like the puzzle box from Hellraiser, but wrapped in cute wrapping paper.

And it is with that in mind we must inform you that rapper Cardi B reportedly bought her 5-year-old daughter a Hermès Birkin bag worth a whopping $20,000.

"Happy birthday to my pretty princess," Cardi wrote in the caption to her Instagram post celebrating the birthday of Kulture Kiari Cephus, her daughter with rapper Offset. "It's beautiful seeing my girl grow yet makes me a lil sad that my baby is not my little baby no more."

And what couture-conscious fans saw in one of the pictures was a pink Birkin. According to some sleuthing from Indy100, "on the auction site Sotheby's, the bag was described as 'Bubblegum Pink Epsom leather with palladium hardware and has contrast stitching, front toggle closure, clochette with lock and two keys, and double rolled handles.'" Furthermore, the site reports that that particular bag retails for $20,000.

So just remember: as you stare at your shrinking bank account, wondering if you can afford to buy a new pair of shoes, asking yourself, "How much rainwater can really get through a hole that size after all?" just remember that somewhere out there, a bunch of Bratz dolls are getting hauled around the playground in a $20,000 purse.
