HIGHMOUNT, N.Y. — Sitcom star Kelsey Grammer of “Cheers” and “Frasier” tended bar at Belleayre Mountain’s Discovery Lodge on Sunday.

“People were surprised to see him behind the bar,” Joe McCracken, Belleayre’s marketing manager said. “We had a great crowd, it was a busy day.”

McCracken, Belleayre Mountain’s marketing manager, said Grammer, 68, tended bar at the ski center’s main base lodge, where most guests pass through from 1-3 p.m. that afternoon.

A post on Belleayre’s Facebook page shows Grammer, a Woodstock Film Festival alumnus, offering a pour of a craft beer made by Grammer’s Faith American Brewing Company, which is based in nearby Margaretville in Delaware County.

“He was chatting it up with everyone,” McCracken said. “He was talking about his brewery. He was talking about anything or everything.”

That included discussing a sequel of his hit 1990s and early 2000s sitcom “Frasier.” Grammer played Frasier Crane in “Cheers,” and “Frasier.”

The new series will appear on the streaming service Paramount+, Grammer has said.

McCracken said Grammer’s Belleayre appearance was arranged by food and facilities management giant Sodexo which manages concessions at the ski center run by the state Olympic Regional Development Authority. Sodexo also controls which beers are on the tap line in the lodge, he added.

McCracken said as far as he knows it was the first time Grammer ever visited Belleayre.

McCracken added while Grammer is a skier, he’s never taken to the slopes at Belleayre.

“He skis out west,” McCracken said.

McCracken said Grammer also recently appeared at Windham Mountain, another popular Catskills ski resort in Windham in Greene County.

A post on Windham’s website said Grammer was scheduled to appear at the resort’s Umbrella Bar on Feb.12.

According to Faith American’s website, the brewery was founded in 2015 by Grammer, who says on the site that he has fond memories of the many visits his family made to the Catskills when he was a boy.

“We will brew at the old dairy farm site and explore this marvelous craft, living in harmony with the land and the people here, harvesting our potential together as Faith American Brewing Company brings joy to our customers and revenue to the community,” Grammer said in a statement on the brewery’s website.
