Step aside, margaritas—daiquiris are our new go-to refreshing cocktail. There are countless variations of this rum cocktail, but when we're craving a classic (and extra-refreshing) version, we turn to this frozen strawberry version. Frosty, vibrant, and the perfect amount of sweet, this frozen daiquiri’s blend of juicy, red strawberries brightened with zesty lime is too refreshing to deny. Only requiring four ingredients, it’s our ideal spring drink to welcome the warm days ahead. Read on for everything you need to know to make the best-ever glass:
What is a daiquiri?
The classic daiquiri is served up, and combines just rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. But, the frozen varieties can get a little more creative. Our recipe uses rum, lime juice, and strawberries (fresh AND frozen). While many recipes will call for simple syrup, we found that fresh strawberries add enough sweet flavor that you won’t really miss it.
The best type of rum for a daiquiri:
You’re going to want to opt for a light rum in a daiquiri. White or clear rums have a mild and light body, making them perfect for incorporating into mixed drinks. Use your fave brand, or consult our tried-and-tested favorite rum brands to find your new go-to choice.
How to make a strawberry daiquiri:
It couldn’t be easier: add your ingredients to a blender, blend until smooth, and serve! For the best results, we call for two types of strawberries: fresh and frozen. Using frozen strawberries gives body to the drink without watering down the flavor like ice would. Fresh strawberries add juiciness and a syrupy quality, keeping the drink from being too thick. If you use all frozen strawberries, you'll likely need a spoon to enjoy the treat—which tbh, might be exactly what you're in the mood for some days. That squeeze of lime? Essential. The fresh citrus kick will make the strawberries shine even brighter in flavor.
Daiquiri variations:
This frozen strawberry recipe is a go-to choice for many (for very good reason), but your daiquiri options don't stop here. Mix up the fruit with your favorite frozen variety, or try our lemon-blueberry daiquiri if you're looking for a bright and fresh on-the-rocks version.
