Hraunfossar literally translates as "lava waterfalls". In this case, the lava refers to Hallmundarhraun, an ancient lava field that formed from an eruption of a volcano now under the Langjökull glacier. Rain falling on the lava field penetrates the porous rock then flows horizontally, through the rock, until it hits the channel carved by the Hvítá river. Here, the water flows right out of the rock forming the falls which run for about a kilometer along the river.

► Prints will be carefully rolled and shipped in a cardboard tube.
► All paper prints will have a 1" border on all four sides by default. This means the actual sheet size of the paper will be a total of 2 inches larger than the ordered width and height of the print. Contact me for other options such as borderless, 2" border or torn/deckle edges.
