Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Seljalandsfoss is one of the most well-known waterfalls in Iceland and it is located in Seljalandsá in Rangárþing Eystra. The waterfall is clearly visible from Highway 1 when driving east from Hvolsvöllur towards Eyjarfjöll.

Seljalandsfoss is up to 62 m high and what is remarkable about him besides what he is beautiful, is that you can walk behind the waterfall and see it from a different perspective. The waterfall is one of the most photographed places in Iceland and a popular tourist destination.

In 1976, there was a flood in the river that changed the appearance of the waterfall as it did not spread as much as before due to a crevice in the ridge.
