It's one of this morning's most talked-about subjects - Justin Bieber's debut campaign for Calvin Klein underwear. Two Glamour writers give their views on Biebs' #MyCalvins shots...

It was an image no one over the age of 15 ever wanted to see - topless Justin Bieber being caressed by Lara Stone, least not for underwear giant Calvin Klein.

But whatever you think of Bieber, the adverts are questionable for reasons other than the singer's reputation for being an aggy teenager with an unfortunate tendency to offend and irritate. The brand's campaigns are legendary. We all remember the Marky Mark and Kate Moss campaign of 1993, the sizzling shots of Eva Mendes and Jamie Dornan or the chiselled Freddie Lumburg lying underneath supermodel Natalia Vodianova?

Bieber's Calvin Klein campaign is forgettable for a number of reasons. Although he has the physique of a CK model, he doesn't have the sex appeal. When you look at pictures of Moss and Wahlberg together they look like they could be together, that they're a young, beautiful couple who happen to be in their underwear (in reality, Moss has been quoted as saying that she hated the whole experience and hid in the toilet for the most part). The same can't be said of Lara Stone and Bieber, who have as much chemistry as a roll of sellotape. The images are not sexy, which is surely the aim of any underwear brand. Bieber looks like a Ken doll, rather than a Dornan-esque figure that you'd like to see plastered over every bus and billboard.

The brand's campaigns are also known for illustrating youth culture, energy and effortless cool. Bieber is not effortless and he's not cool. We all know about his drink driving, foray into graffiti and urinating in a restaurant mop bucket, but what makes him so uncool is his constant attempt to be an alleged 'wild child'. Nothing about Bieber is brooding or interesting; he always has his shirt off and he consistently comes across as whiney and a bit rude. He tries very hard to be 'naughty', but is still about as far away from James Dean as you can imagine.

Marky Mark and Kate Moss this is not.

I like Justin Bieber's Calvin Klein ad campaign pictures. There I said it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't call myself a "Belieber", and I know he has done some terrible terrible things in his 20 years on planet earth, but for some strange reason I quite like the guy. Perhaps it was because I watched his 2014 movie documentary Believe (on a really boring plane journey, I might add) and the fact that I didn't like him and then I miraculously did, can only be down to one thing: brainwashing.

But let's get back to these Calvin Klein pics…

I'm all about a comeback, and last year we saw JB don an orange jumpsuit as he had his mugshot taken. He obviously got a telling off from his mum and then went back to his mansion, pounded it at the gym and worked hard on his body. Surely a Calvin Klein ad campaign would erase all memories of a grinning idiot in an orange onesie. SURELY!?

The pictures, taken by fashion photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott are great; classy, sultry, and they continue that brand's longstanding legacy of bringing fashion and music together.

It also proves that Calvin Klein are gettin' down with the kids. Last year Estée Lauder, a fairly traditional makeup brand, chose Kendall Jenner to front its new beauty campaign. It's refreshing that brands are looking at who their young fans like. Justin Bieber was the most tweeted about music artist of 2014, might I add. This digitally-focused campaign will engage both Calvin Klein fans and Bieber fans and followers. Ker-ching!

We also can't forget that girls fancy Justin Bieber - you just have to take one look at Twitter to see that. His fans have adored him since his swooshy hair days, and now they're probably drooling over him in his tighty whiteys. He might not be my cup of tea, but I can definitely see the appeal. Actually, I lie: He's hot in these pictures. And yes, I have just done the math: I am 10 years older than him. Kill me now.

Lara Stone, if anything, could have been the bizarre choice his co-star in this ad. Having said that, I'm really bored of seeing couples lolling all over one another in ad campaigns (Kimye, I'm talking to you). I know one thing: I'd rather see Justin in his pants over David Walliams. Sorry David - but you get points for this excellent tweet...

That's just what we think, and now it's over to you...
