Exhibitions are a great place to discover something new and interesting. And, the Raj Bhavan, Goa, (also known as Cabo Raj Niwas and Palacio do Cabo) organises such events on occasions such as Republic Day.

Goa’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, recently inaugurated two exhibitions at the Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula. The first was an exhibition of vintage cars….

WHAT’S THE WORD

… while the second was an exhibition of books at the Old Durbar Hall in the Raj Bhavan.

THE AUTHOR

The book exhibition featured 200 books, penned by Goa Governor, PS Sreedharan Pillai.

OLD WORLD CHARM

An interesting exhibit at the car show was a Cadillac -- a luxury limousine procured in 1959.

HISTORY LESSONS

The Caddy was used at ceremonial functions, during the Portuguese era, and also during State functions after the liberation of Goa, Daman and Diu in 1961.

BEHIND THE WHEEL

The car exhibition was organised in association with the Goa Vintage and Classic Vehicles Club.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Premier Padmini, Austin and VW were among the many vintage cars on display at the exhibition.
