The most popular Catholic feast in Panjim is the feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, which is celebrated on December 8 annually.
Our Lady of Immaculate Conception is the patroness of the Immaculate Conception Church (Igreja da Imaculada Conceição), which was built in 1541 and is the most famous church in the capital city of Panjim.
The Baroque style church was initially a chapel overlooking the city of Panjim, and was later re-built into a larger structure.
The ancient bell, which is housed in the church, was once a part of the Church of Our Lady of Grace (Nossa Senhora da Graça), in Old Goa, and is believed to be the second largest of its kind in Goa.
Every year, the novenas begin on November 28, and are followed by the feast. This year, the schedule of masses during the novena and feast days in the Immaculate Conception Church, Panjim, are as follows:
