Canadian luxury phone maker and British auto marquee show off the future of mobility

Aston Martin has, in a way, pioneered new ways in which you enter your car or even bring the engine to life. A Start / Stop button might be your Nissan Micra’s novel factor today, but Aston introduced this feature quite some time back. Then came Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Aston Martin branded timepiece which incorporated a transponder for automatically locking and unlocking the car like a proximity key fob.

Now, they have a new kid on the block, well, almost. Aston Martin has teamed up with Canadian luxury phone maker Mobiado to conceptualise a new device that is not only a phone but also an art form that takes care of various tasks that could be related to your Aston Martin car. Christened as the CPT002, this concept phone boasts of a transparent capacitive touch screen made from sapphire crystal. The state of the art screen displays a full colour interface much similar to the current generation smartphones. The crystal clear screen is engulfed within two platinum strips which hold the actual hardware like the processor, battery, antennas, SIM card etc.

On the automotive front, the phone works as a proximity key and will automatically lock and unlock an Aston Martin car. The car can also communicate with the phone’s built-in accelerometer to detect chances of a collision and therefore trigger the necessary safety features to prevent a mishap. For the social networking fanatics, the CPT002 keeps track of your Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare activity and in turn can help you locate friends and contacts, upload your own geographical location, share updates about your roadtrips and even track and share the progress you make at trackdays! 

The unfortunate bit is, the Mobiado Aston Martin CPT002 is still in concept form, meaning you can’t buy it yet even if you own the best of Astons. But looking at the direction the CPT002 is headed in, you are surely going to feel good about your affinity to Astons, or should we say, your love for automobiles on the whole.
