House of the chief of Bawomataluo | Nias, Indonesia | The omo sebua, the chief's house, is really a giant (sebua) version of the other villagers' houses, omo hada. These gigantic buildings, which used to be numerous, are certainly the most elaborate form of the architecture of South Indonesia. Today, only four examples are still extant. The house of the chief of Bawomataluo was completed in 1878 and is the most impressive construction on the entire Island of Nias.
