Little over a two-hour flight from the UK, Ibiza is an easy island to explore for a weekend, a week or even longer, especially if you've already experienced the Balearic islands of Mallorca and Menorca. With a dramatic coastline dotted with pine forests and unspoilt sandy coves, many come to embrace the island's spiritual, bohemian side with beachfront yoga retreats, sunset salutations or just a wander around the hippie markets.
Rippled with orange, lemon and almond groves, whitewashed chapels and rustic fincas-turned- agriturismos, Ibiza's lush interior is just as pretty, as any influencer's Insta feed will tell you.
While taxis are aplenty, why not have some fun and hire a colourful 2CV or a Mini Moke to buzz around the island beaches? Ibiza is not a cultural abyss either. Take a walking tour around Dalt Vila, the fortified old town which dates back to Phoenician times or see Time and Space by Australian artist, Andrew Rogers, whose solar clock installation of 13 basalt columns is perched on the cliffs at Cala Llentia.

What is the best month to visit Ibiza?
June, July and August are the peak months – and the hottest – but pleasant temperatures can be enjoyed as early as April and well into the early autumn months. Nightlife and beach club lovers will be glad to hear that opening parties start in May and the good vibes run all the way to October, when most closing parties happen.

Nobu Hotel, Ibiza Bay
Overlooking Talamanca Bay, the super-luxe Nobu Ibiza Bay is the White Isle's beachfront escape of the stars. It's an easy half-hour walk or a short hop by boat from Marina Botafoch into Ibiza Town, while Pacha is a leisurely 15-minute stroll. But really, there's little reason to leave when you can lounge in a cabana by one of the two stone pools overlooking the sea, get pampered in the Six Senses Spa or simply sip Nobu signature cocktails on the sundeck.
All of 152 rooms and suites are serenity personified; think floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies or terraces and a cream, blue and natural wood decor. Our favourites have private plunge pools. While dinner is all about Nobu and its world-class Japanese cuisine, don't miss lunch in Chambao, the laidback beachy chiringuito renowned for its sparklingly fresh seafood.
ME Ibiza
Close to Santa Eulalia on the island's east coast, ME Ibiza is a sun-drenched sanctuary with a boho vibe. Located right on the beach, it offers the perfect holiday escape – but within easy reach of Ibiza's famous nightlife. By day, relax by the gorgeous infinity pool, read a book in one of the hanging rattan chairs or try an aerial yoga class on the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea.
There are more than 200 rooms and suites to choose from; light-filled and serene in whites and natural wood features, many with sea views. Our favourite suites have a super-private terrace and pool. After an alfresco dinner overlooking the sea, retire to the rooftop bar for chill out tunes until late.
W Ibiza
Putting the W into WOW, the W Ibiza is one of the hippest hotels on the island. Perched on the southern fringes of the Santa Eulalia seafront, it's close to the town's stylish beach clubs, bars and restaurants, but for anything more, it's a 25-minute cab ride into Ibiza Town. However, with an adults-only infinity pool, hip rooftop bar and buzzy restaurants, all with a clubby vibe, it's not essential for the Ibiza experience.
There rooms and suites are all suitably stylish, as is the W's way, with plenty of light and mirrors, plus gold-flecked detailing on the walls. The best suites are on the top floor and have balconies and sweeping views over the Mediterranean Sea.
Aguamadera Ibiza
Tucked away in the pine-clad hills near Cala Llonga on the leafy east coast, Aguamadera Ibiza offers a pure and holistic escape from daily life. Set in lush gardens with fragrant lemon groves and fig trees, the charmingly rustic 19th-century finca offers a secluded adults-only hideaway. Spend your days reading or relaxing by the pool and easy nights dining under the stars in Firewood, the finca's unique wood-fired kitchen.
The rooms and suites are just as intimate and housed in the original finca or in the 'corrales', the former stables. All are serenely decorated; think white-washed walls, rustic wood and bohemian handmade furnishings, it'll be hard to leave come the end of the holiday.
Can Curreu, San Carlos
Moments from the village of San Carlos and Las Dalias hippie market, this whitewashed, bougainvillea-drenched finca set among lemon and olive groves offers a heavenly scented year-round escape. There are 17 rooms at Can Curreu, all of which embrace the rustic Balearic vibe – exposed beams, terracotta floors and bare-brick fireplaces – which Ibiza does so well.
Relax in the small but chic spa, which has an heated indoor pool (for cooler days) and a clutch of thermal baths, sensation showers and steam rooms. The outdoor pool is just as inviting. Surrounded by lush gardens with cacti and palm trees, it overlooks the valley and bridlepaths, where guests can ride horses from the Can Curreu stables.
Hacienda Na Xamena, San Miguel
Perched on top of a cliff on Ibiza's rugged north coast, Hacienda Na Xamena was the first five-star hotel to open on the White Isle and is still at the top of its game. Every one of the rooms has private outdoor space and magnificent views overlooking San Miguel Bay.
However, nothing can beat watching the sun set from one of the cascading pools built into the side of the rock. There's also a modern spa and a brace of restaurants, one serving poolside breakfasts and deliciously Mediterranean lunches, while Edén is a rather special spot scattered with tiny enclaves, perfect for a romantic rendezvous.
Six Senses Ibiza, Portinatx
Perched on the very northern tip of the island, Six Senses Ibiza is all about sustainable and eco-friendly luxury. But this is far from a hemp-knitting commune. Here, you can indulge in swish cave suites, a spiritual centre and a farm-to-fork dining ethos; The Farm is a 400-year-old olive press and agricultural estate which supplies the restaurants, cafes and juice bars in the resort.
Discover true bliss in the Six Senses Spa, which also has a RoseBar longevity lounge and a holistic anti-aging programme. Or, watch the sunset over cocktails at the Beach Caves, the hotel’s incredibly cool live music venue.
Pikes Ibiza, San Antonio
Famously the backdrop to Wham!'s Club Tropicana video, Pikes is the epitome of Ibizan hedonism and is to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Tucked away in the hills behind San Antonio, this rock and roll-themed hotel has seen everyone grace its loungers from Freddie Mercury – who famously held his 41st birthday here – to the likes of Kate Moss and Grace Jones, who have stepped through its doors.
The individually styled rooms all have a laid-back Ibiza vibe and quirky features like a hobbit door. Play a set or two on the hot pink tennis court, or head to the Rockovery tent for morning yoga, or splash around in that iconic pool. As for food, Pamelas serves up dishes with a nostalgic twist – from beer battered cod to slow roast rib of beef.
The Standard, Ibiza Town
Since the moment it opened in 2022, The Standard's Ibiza outpost has exuded an air of seductive, star-studded mischief in the heart of the historic Old Town. It's a place of dreamy farm-to-table dinners beneath the stars, intimate parties, and long languid days of recovery next to the turquoise pool.
The stark white building houses 53 rooms and suites, but there's also a separate 14-bedroom Casa Privada for party lovers to take over for fun-filled weeks. Back at the main hotel, bright, eclectic decor provides an apt backdrop for the revelry that goes on within these chic walls, but rest assured that everything feels luxuriously soothing at the same time.
La Torre del Canónigo, Ibiza Town
Promising a privileged panorama of both Dalt Vila and the Mediterranean, this chichi boutique hotel steeped in history and charm is well-placed for exploring Ibiza Town's more cultural offerings – aka the hole-in-the-wall bars and late-night tavernas of Old Town Ibiza.
Rooms have a warm and rustic Spanish appeal – think colourful tiled floors, natural woods and rattan furnishings, while suites have private terraces with views of the bay or the old town. Making the most of its elevated position, the highlight of La Torre del Canónigo is its brace of terraces, where you'll find a small pool shaded by olive trees and an oh-so romantic Mediterranean restaurant with a twinkling appeal, and both with views across the Med.
Mondrian Ibiza, Cala Llonga
Hidden in the east of the island overlooking Cala Llonga (yet minutes' drive from super clubs like Pacha and Ushuaïa), Mondrian Ibiza opens for its debut season in 2024. The rooms and suites are an Ibizan take on quiet luxury: all muted monochromatic palettes, sculptural lighting and dashes of colour accents. Many come with their own private terraces, too.
Along with neighbouring opening Hyde Hotel, Mondrian Ibiza has its own dock and ferry access to Ibiza Town, Santa Eulalia and Formentera. It's also ticking every trendy food and drinks box, with artisanal coffee, biodynamic wines and sustainable seafood.
Oku Ibiza, San Antonio
A sandy skip from the beaches of Cala Gracio, this vision in natural wood, rattan and palm is the essence of modern Ibiza. Rooms are minimalist and oh-so chic, all have balconies or terraces, while Swim-Up rooms share a pool. For special occasions, book the Signature Suite, which has a private bar and a party shower (for two or more).
Surrounded by Oku's ubiquitous palms, comfy loungers and thatched parasols, at 50 metres-long, the pool is the largest on the island. There's also complimentary rooftop yoga, a Balinese-style bar – great for early evening sundowners dancing to the resident DJ – and a Zen-like spa for essential post-party pampering.
Gecko Hotel & Beach Club, Formentera
As the smallest of the Balearics, the quiet island of Formentera has become a firm favourite for Ibiza locals looking to get away from it all. With a prime spot overlooking the turquoise waters lapping Migjorn Beach, the Gecko Hotel & Beach Club is a heavenly place to unwind after a hedonistic few days (and nights) living it up on the White Isle.
Take yoga classes on the beach, relax by the pool overlooking the sea or enjoy a chilled afternoon rosé in the beach club. Alternatively, borrow one of the hotel bicycles or paddleboards and explore the island. The rooms are stylish and serene, think neutral tones, flashes of colour and stylish mid-century modern furnishings, while a lazy breakfast on the terrace is a joy.
Hotel Rural Xereca, Puig d’en Valls
Moments from the buzzing hubs of Ibiza Town and Talamanca Beach, this rural-chic agriturismo in Puig d’en Valls is a deliciously serene spot to relax and rejuvenate after experiencing the hedonistic joys of Eivissa. Dominated by a 15th-century stone watermill, Hotel Rural Xereca's rural setting amid olive trees and orange groves feels a million miles away from the neon-lit bars and clubs of Ibiza Town. The spacious rooms and suites are beautifully decorated in a palette of cool stone, rustic cream and grey, all have a private terrace, while a highlight is the huge dish-like bath for two.
Whether you chill out around the infinity pool, practice your downward dog in the yoga temple or enjoy regional Balearic cuisine in the alfresco restaurant, you can't help but instantly relax upon arriving here.
7 Pines Resort, San Jose
If it's all-out swank you're after, then look no further than the 7 Pines in Sant Josep de sa Talaia, or San Jose. Named after the sweet, sweet scent of Ibiza's native conifer forests, this beachfront resort has staggeringly pretty views over Es Vedrà rock. Widely regarded as one of the best hotels in Ibiza, the sprawling resort features whitewashed Cubist-style villas housing split-level suites, every one with a private pool, plus two-bedroom pads which work well for families.
Relax in the Pure Seven spa, which has a thermal hydrotherapy circuit, or splash around in one of the two pools, our favourite is the infinity pool which overlooks Es Vedrà. There are several restaurants, including The View, a fine dining spot offering French dishes with a Nordic twist, plus a clutch of bars, including the Pershing Yacht Terrace, which clasped to the rugged cliffside, offers the ultimate sundowner.
Montesol Experimental Ibiza, Ibiza Town
Overlooking a leafy square in Ibiza Town, the historic Montesol Experimental Ibiza Montesol Experimental Ibiza was the White Isle's very first hotel. Opened in 1933 in an elegant custard-and-cream neocolonial building, it's rumoured that stars like Orson Welles and Princess Caroline of Monaco have stayed at the hotel in its various iterations. Now part of the Experimental group, the rooms are stylishly decorated with a cosmic, eccentric appeal.
Relax on the rooftop terrace bar with a cocktail and watch as the sun sets over Ibiza Town, or dine out in Café Montesol, which is open until the early hours and serves an impressive menu and pintxos on the bar. And, while there's no pool on-site, the group has its own (rightly hyped) beach club in the Las Salinas salt reserve.
Casa Munich Residence, Salinas
There are few places in the world where you can watch flamingos fly overhead from a sun lounger, and Casa Munich is by far the prettiest. A hop and a skip from Ses Salinas Nature Reserve – where you'll find some the best beaches on the island – the family-run Casa Munich has stacks of old-school Ibiza charm. From the elegant rooms and suites, all with rustic Balinese vibe, the modern glass-fronted spa to a trio of palm-fringed pools, where you can order food and cocktails to be delivered to your lounger.
Tennis courts, mountain bike hire and yoga classes (naturally) are all on offer, but there's no sit-down restaurant, however the hip beach clubs and bars of Salinas and Es Cavallet are mere moments away.
Ca Na Xica, San Miquel de Balansat
'It's more than a hotel, it's a state of mind' is the mantra at Ca Na Xica, and it's easy to see why. Surrounded by thousand-year-old olive trees, this intimate hotel in a whitewashed finca exudes calm and tranquility. The grounds are dominated by a spectacular T-shaped saltwater pool which is lined with native conifers and ancient olive trees. There's also a spa and a man-made 'beach' lounging area.
Rooms and suites are housed in stark white cubes, a dramatic contrast with the terracotta earth. While Salvia, the hotel's super sleek Mediterranean restaurant is designed with an abundance of natural stone, glass and wood. Don't miss dinner on the romantic, lantern lined terrace, regarded as one of the best in the area.
BLESS Hotel Ibiza, Cala Nova
Tucked away in Cala Nova, this oh-so chic luxury hotel is drawing the island's gastronomes thanks to its Michelin-starred restaurant. The rooms at BLESS Hotel Ibiza have all been designed with inspiration by Coco Chanel and feature marble floors, clean white lines and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay. Relax by a brace of pools, including a cute hidden rooftop pool, or enjoy a spot of pampering in the Beldon Wellness SPA, which has ESPA treatments.
However, the true highlight of BLESS is the food at Etxeko. With no fewer than 12 Michelin stars to his name, widely acclaimed chef Martín Berasategui introduces his immaculate Basque-influenced cuisine in his first outpost on the island.
Atzaro, San Lorenzo
Tucked away among the fragrant orange and olive groves of San Lorenzo and near Santa Eularia, this exquisite boutique spa hotel housed in a 300-year old finca is all about living the Ibiza dream. Set in 10 acres of beautifully manicured gardens laced with palm trees and bougainvillea-draped pavilions, what Atzaro lacks in sea views it makes up for in natural ambiance. Not to mention the softly scented, muslin-draped rooms and a spectacular open-air spa with a sauna, hammam and yoga pavilion.
After a night on the tiles, enjoy a late and lazy breakfast on the terrace of La Veranda, or stay for a relaxed dinner at The Orange Tree courtyard restaurant. And if you crave the beach life, Atzaro guests have first dibs at the Balinese beds at the finca's funky beach club in Cala Nova.
