The problems of Draize Test

● It is CRUELTY !!
● Differences between rabbit eye and the human eyes
● No appropriate evaluation criteria to determine the outcome of the
same chemical.
Solutions & Alternatives Methods

➢ Human hemoglobin denaturation as an alternative to the Draize test


➢ Using small discs of human skin cells grown in laboratories
Still testing… ( In 2009)
➢ Since 2000 OECD had validated alternative tests for corrosivity,
meaning acids, bases and other corrosive substances are no longer
required to be Draize tested on animals.
What Can We Do...

1. Always buy cruelty-free products


2. Educate others
3. Help stop cosmetics testing in the United States
4. Join PETA's Action Team to help even more animals!
