Patrick Wayne Swayze, the American actor behind the surfing movie "Point Break," has died today, aged 57, after losing a 20-month battle against pancreatic cancer.
An absolute Hollywood icon, Swayze starred as "Bodhi" in "Point Break," alongside Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey. He played the role of a charismatic leader of a surf gang.
"Point Break" was released on July 12, 1991, in 1,615 theaters and went on to make a worldwide total of $83.5 million.
The film became a cult ring between the Hollywood industry and surfing. In 2006, "Point Break" was released on DVD in a special edition.
Entertainment Weekly considers that "Point Break" has one of the best surfing scenes ever directed in a movie.
Patrick Swayze will always be remembered by the international surfing community as a fighter and a great man.
