Man Utd and Arsenal legend Robin van Persie retires aged 35 after playing final game for Feyenoord

TWO-TIME Premier League Golden Boot winner Robin van Persie has retired from football aged 35.
The Dutch striker, who starred at Arsenal before becoming a title-winning legend at Man Utd, played his final game for boyhood club Feyenoord on Sunday.
It was not the glorious ending he would have hoped for as the Dutch side were beaten 2-0 at home by Den Haag.
RVP and his lethal left boot returned to the Eredivisie club last summer where he had begun his career in 2001.
Ahead of his final game Van Persie said: "The goal was to go out with honour because football is my passion.
"I've had a whole year to get mentally prepared for retirement. If I had only taken the decision a few weeks ago, it would have been difficult to let it sink it in such a short period of time."
Van Persie, who won 102 caps for Holland, hangs up his boots after 18 years in the top flight of football.
He emerged as one of Europe's top hitmen after joining the Gunners in 2004 where he scored 96 goals in 194 games.
Van Persie won an FA Cup and Community Shield at Arsenal, as well as individual accolades.

He picked up his first Golden Boot in 2012, just before departing for Old Trafford in a surprise sale for £22.5million.
RVP's repaid the cost immediately as he retained the top scorer title and helped deliver the Premier League title.
Van Persie spent three years in Turkey with Fenerbahce before returning to Holland for his swansong season.
