Kang Ho-dong becomes a victim of bad prank
18 Nov – The Twitter jokes are getting out of hand. Following rumours about Lee Hyo-ri's death just a few days ago, now the Twitter community has turned Kang Ho-dong into a new victim of the hoax currently circulating online.
According to soompi website, on 17 November, the news about Kang Ho-dong's death started on social networking site Twitter and rapidly circulated since then. Reports stated that a certain Twitter account revealed that Kang Ho-dong was found dead in his home this morning, with fans immediately retweeting the content.
Netizens that were stricken with worry and concern after hearing such report, were furious to find out that it was a prank.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyo-ri who was also a recent victim of these bad jokes vents her anger on the social networking site, stating "It is a bad joke. It's not funny at all."
Celebrity death rumours are a sensitive topic in South Korea, as it has one of the highest suicide rates globally, and celebrities have been found, too frequently, dead by suicide. Studies have also shown that suicide death rates spiked nationally when their celebrities committed suicide.
