John F.M. Wolfe, a historian of York County aviation, has written the book on local airstrips.
He also knows airplanes.
He has worked for the past 10 years to build a 210-piece collection of model aircraft -- a group that includes one blimp.
But the shelves in his West Manchester Township home are now bare.
He has boxed up the collection, and the 1/72 scale pieces will go to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading.
About his collection, Wolfe said: "I had just kept adding and adding and adding. Now, I'm packing."
The collection might leaving, but John's "Profile of Aviation" book remains the go-to place for photos and stories about York County airports, past and present.
