MTV Suspends ‘Catfish’ Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Host Nev Schulman

Yaniv “Nev” Schulman, host of the MTV series “Catfish,” is the latest Hollywood figure to face accusations of sexual misconduct, and the network has suspended filming on the popular reality series to perform an investigation.

“We take these allegations very seriously,” an MTV spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday. “We’re working with Critical Content, our third party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation and we’ve put a pause on shooting until the investigation is completed.”

Details of the allegations are unclear, but surfaced earlier this week when two YouTube videos were posted by a woman who had appeared on the show three years ago, claiming that a man she dubbed “Jack” had made several inappropriate, sexual comments.

Schulman has denied the claims, and said in a statement to Variety, “The behavior described in this video did not happen and I’m fortunate that there are a number of former colleagues who were present during this time period who are willing to speak up with the truth. I have always been transparent about my life and would always take responsibility for my actions — but these claims are false.”

“Catfish,” which Schulman has co-hosted with Max Joseph since 2012, follows the two as they expose the true identities of people’s online love interests, often revealing these people as “catfish,” who disguise themselves as others. Schulman is also an executive producer on the series, which was filming its eighth season.

Schulman appeared in a documentary of the same name in 2010. He married Laura Perlongo last summer and the two have a daughter together.
