I was reluctant to buy a rollator as it seemed a signal of old age (when I am a mere 85) but my osteopath advised me to take the weight off my back to help my osteoarthritis. As it is something I will use everyday for years I decided to get the best and lightest I could find and opted for the Acre carbon fibre version in racing green (loved the irony).
It is the wisest decision I have made in a long time. It helps me to walk more upright because of the skilled design whereby I stride between the struts owing to the reverse pointing handles. If that sounds complex, watch one of the YouTube videos. It’s an elegant bit of kit and I feel more youthful as I zap about. The seat is a bonus as I can rest when I feel like it. On returning home, I fold it away neatly and rejoice that my back is so much less painful and stays that way for the rest of the day. I can honestly say that the extra cost is well worth it because it has put a spring in my step and made me enjoy walking once more. I’ve ordered the weekend bag which I will also use to carry oddments of shopping. The organiser bag which comes free attaches neatly and has a strap which I can transfer to the bigger bag.
I do have a couple of reservations: if I could have managed the extra bit of weight onto a bus I’d have gone for the Overland to eliminate all jogs on uneven pavements and I think the seat could be the same gorgeous green colour as the struts. That’s a quibble though.
Assist Mobility is a great company to deal with: swift delivery and questions answered clearly and patiently on the phone. You get a VAT discount by stating your disability.
My advice is: buy one of the these before your need becomes desperate as a rollator can take up to a third of your weight off your dodgy joint. I believe that you can make arthritis worse by pressing on through pain as inflammation sends out enzymes that further damage cartilage. I wish I’d bought one a year ago.
Excellent

I cannot praise both the product or company highly enough
I did a lot of research before deciding on the Acre mobility walker there were less expensive options but none gave me exactly what I needed
Having this walker really has improved my daily life for the better my condition (multiple compression fractures ) meant I could only walk outside holding onto my husbands arm or a shopping trolley which meant I had to rely on someone being with me . I can’t lift anything heavy and I tried a walking stick but it made me stoop and didn’t give me the balance support.
Since the acre arrived I have been out every day in my own I have walked further than I have for 5 months because of the design my feet can walk between the rear wheels so I am walking upright and I have absolute confidence with the balance it gives me .
It looks modern and stylish and glides easily but also has the very clever braking system to slow me down on hills but click on brakes to sit when I need a rest .
It’s comfortable to sit in I got the backrest for additional support
The designers of this fantastic walker really have thought of everything
The company have being brilliant from the minute I ordered they are helpful exceptionally quick to reply to my email when I made a mistake with my order they rectified it straight away and kept me updated
It arrived well packaged and I was contacted when it was dispatched and right up to delivery
It was exactly as described fully assembled the only thing I had to add was the backrest I had ordered and the free very nice looking carry bag
I would give both product and company 10 stars this beautiful extremely clever light as a feather piece of equipment really has changed my life .
Do your own research but I guarantee if you buy the acre carbon ultralight you will not be disappointed
Perfect for my needs

I have had an Outlander but found it a little larger and heavier than I could cope with, however, I loved all the features and design of the rollator. So - I came back to Acre to see if there was a smaller, lighter version. I selected the Ultralight, carbon fibre, compact version. I am 5'2 and of slight build and it is perfect for me. It is light, easily manoeuvred, gives me greater accessibility and folds up into a very tidy size, that fits easily into a Vauxhall Corsa boot. The slight give in the tyres creates a comfortable ride, while the design is robust and solid, especially the unique handle configuration, which gives me confidence and allows me more mobility. The handles are easily adjusted for height. I also love that the brake wires are contained within the bodywork, thus preventing potentially annoying snagging hazards. The choice of colours is good - my British Racing Green version has resulted in us nicknaming it my Aston Martin! While the seat is not suitable for long periods of sitting, it is adequate for a temporary rest. I also bought the optional day bag which makes a light shop much easier for me. I would totally recommend this range of rollator and, for the smaller lady, this particular model.
A holiday romance

I am a 75 year old women but feel 21.My body doesn't agree and has given me some crosses to bear.I suffer with arthritis in most of my joints,my hips can be very intolerant with me and I suffer as quietly as I can. I am fine walking for short distances before my hips start their antisocial behaviour of not letting me progress further without a short rest to realign my joints.
I have purchased the Top of the Range Rollator as I felt very sorry for myself that I was admitting to show publicly my need for a walking aid.I will be honest that I cried when it was delivered as I felt that I was admitting to old age and felt slightly embarrassed to go out publicly with the rollator.
I have purchased it to take on holidays, already booked ,as I know there will be walking involved and it was not fair to my friends to compromise their holiday by asking them to stop frequently. We all take for granted growing old and thankfully there are aids of all descriptions available to help.
My Acer Rollator is a great looker and will probably have crowds looking at me in amazement with such a stunning machine.
I am looking forward to giving it a trial it in Spain in July.Look out for the TV headlines of English women seen in Majorca doing wheelies and handstands with her Acer Rollator.
Does anyone want to buy it when I get my new hips??
It's a beautiful piece of engineering, something to be proud of.I may call her Jayne Bond 007
